ANTIQUE RUSSIAN BRASS CROSS, 19TH CENTURY

19th century, Russian eight-ended cross (a very typical style for Russian Crucifix) with rectangular panels (Crucifixion with the Mourners). On the left plate; mourning-Virgin Mary and St. Martha; on the right plate: St. John the Theologian and St. Martyr Longinus the Centurion. Well executed in brass and enamel with Cyrillic writing and fine relief details.
MEASUREMENTS: 8 3/8 x 5 ½ inches (21.5 x 14 cm).
CONDITION: good with showing the age patina. |
