Superb quality Antique Japanese Imari porcelain bowl with a scalloped rim, of the Meiji Period 19th century. The interior is decorated with three large panels representing geishas in sitting positions wearing kimonos. The panels are bordered by finely painted scrolls in iron red and cobalt blue with magnificent gold designs. The exterior of the bowl is beautifully painted in cobalt blue, gold, and iron red, with floral patterns separated by three red medallions with a standing boy wearing a celadon green jacket and cap. Condition: The bowl is in good condition there are no cracks, chips, hairlines or restorations, only the gold gilding is slightly worn out. Dimensions: 7 1/8 inches (18 cm) in diameter; 3 ½ inches (9cm) high. |
