SOLD--Rare antique late 19th century Japanese art pottery studio vase made of grayish stoneware, incised on the exterior near the base is the artist’s signature. The body of the gourd is raised on a short foot. The vase has a narrow mouth with a light gray crackle glaze ground applied with blue and lavender rich splashed glaze.
Unfortunately we are unable to decipher the signature of the artist of this superb Japanese art work. However, judging by the quality of this vase, it must be made by the one of the best Japanese potters of the late Meiji Period.
CONDITION: in excellent condition; no cracks chips or repairs.
MEASUREMENTS: 18cm (7 1/8 inches) tall.
