Antique Box Engraving after Fragonard by L.B. Grav, 19th century

Antique French box with copper engraved lid, 19th century. DETAILS: at the top of the engraving is written “Colin Maillard”, at the bottom is: “d’apres Fragonard L.B. Grav.” The engraving imitates a famous painting by Jean-Honore Fragonard -“Colin Maillard”. The box is made of copper and silver plated bottom and sides, interior of the box is finished with original silk covered cushion (unfortunately the silk is worn out).
CONDITION: in good condition; the lid fits very snugly on the box, nice age patina.
MEASUREMENTS: app. 4 x 3 ¼ x 2 inches (10,5 cm x 8,3cm x 5,5cm). |
