African chieftain's ceremonial trident made of several elements of iron and highly decorated, circa 19th century. The trident originally was mounted on a wooden pole and had not only functioned as a weapon but also as a symbol of rank. Condition: one side was cleaned from rust; the other side is still very rusty. Height: 18 ½ inches (47cm). |
