ANTIQUE AFRICAN TRIDENT SPEER, 19TH CENTURY [T32] African chieftain's ceremonial trident made of several elements of iron and highly decorated, circa 19th century. The trident originally was mounted on a wooden pole and had not only functioned as a weapon but also as a symbol of rank.
