|
 |
|
An authentic antique museum quality late 18th century hand painted
miniature on an ivory panel and mounted in a gold gilded bronze frame.
The miniature is an actual portrait of an aristocrat woman sitting in
a rococo style chair wearing a classical dress of the typical late
18th century period time fashion in royal blue and white colors while
holding a book. An extremely fine and realistically painted hand, face
with beautiful eyes, lips, hair, with a pearl necklace around her
neck, and with details of the costume including the fur trimming of
the dress, ostrich and crane feathers on the bonnet, and lace
bordering the opening of her dress. The portrait was custom painted by
fine brush with outstanding detail. Due to the difficulties in
painting a miniature portrait, such miniatures were custom painted for
wealthy aristocrats by distinguished painters. This particular
painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner “ch. Roze”.
This is a true example of late 18th century fine art. Condition: There
is a vertical crack on the left side of the ivory panel which at some
point was professionally touched up and is now almost invisible. The
painting is mounted behind glass in a gold gild bronze frame.
Dimensions with the frame: 19.5 cm x 12.5 cm (7 5/8 in x 4 7/8 in).
Dimensions: (portrait only): 14.5 cm x 11 cm (5 3/4 in x 4 3/8 in). |
