Antique 18th century Eastern European, probably Lithuanian, painted wooden figure of the Crowned Virgin on the Crescent Moon. The Virgin is carved with long strait hair, falling down her back, clad in blue gown falling in long tubular folds, her arms outstretched before her (missing hands).
MEASUREMENTS: Height; 59cm ( 23 1/4 inches).
CONDITION: on the bottom part split in the wood, some losses and flaking of paint, beautiful age patina. |
