Antique large Persian steel shield Separ, 18th century, Qajar dynasty of circular convex form decorated on the center with a medallion with Arabic calligraphy surmounted with hunting scenes of Persian horsemen and animals, a broad band with eight lobed cartouches containing calligraphic Arabic script, edge with applied brass band, a centre with four domed bosses with bolts on the back for rope (to hold the shield). The decoration is highlighted overall with silver koftgari work foliage.
